Eighty-five girls from 11 different schools across East Anglia enjoyed an inspiring day of science, technology and maths.
The event, at Old Buckenham Hall (OBH), near Lavenham, was arranged by science teacher Tiffany Blackhurst as a way of encouraging girls to focus on science, technology, engineering and maths subjects. Year 5 girls worked in teams of five to use logical thinking and problem-solving skills to complete a variety of challenging tasks including creating ‘elephants’ toothpaste’. For added motivation, each challenge had a competitive element, with prizes for each category.
Tom O’Sullivan, headteacher at OBH, said: “We were delighted to be able to host this inaugural event. It was lovely to welcome the pupils to our school to take part in the challenges. We look forward to organising the day again in 2016.”
