A GO-KARTING enthusiast was taken to hospital with neck injuries last night after crashing on a race track in north Suffolk.

The 35-year-old man was injured when his go-kart collided with another competitor at about 8pm at the Ellough Park Raceway, in Benacre Road, Ellough, near Beccles.

The man, who is from Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft, is believed to have suffered bruising in the crash and was taken to James Paget Hospital, in Gorleston.

A spokesman for the course said: “He was in a competition and doing fairly well. He was in the final when he collided with another driver.

“He hit the tyres at about 35mph but he was laughing and joking by the time he was put into the ambulance.

“It was more of a precaution to call the ambulance but we always do that with neck or back injuries.”
