MESSAGES of goodwill are flooding in as a community shows its support for a critically-ill teenager who was injured in a road traffic accident.

Emily Millican, 18, remains in a critical condition in hospital after the car she was travelling in hit a tree last weekend.

Emily, who lives in Rickinghall, near Diss, is a former pupil at Hartismere High School in Eye but is now studying horticulture at Otley College and a spokesman said that everyone at the campus was thinking of her.

He said: “The student's lecturer is in regular contact with her mum and fellow learners are sending 'get well' messages by the internet and by letter.

“The college is right behind her in her battle to get better and our thoughts are very much with her and her loved ones.”

Friends have even set up a Facebook group, called “Full Recovery to Emily”, that has now attracted more than 450 people, with many leaving spirited messages urging her to pull through.

Relatives and friends have left hundreds of heartfelt comments over the past week, including Sandra Allen, who wrote: “Come on Em. You can beat this. Love to all the family, X.”

Sara Evans posted: “Keep it going girl, you are doing really well. We are all rooting for you and you have so much love and support and prayers to guide you on. Love to you Em, lots of love, X.”

Ellie Drake wrote: “We are all thinking about you every day Em and hoping each day will be an improvement. Looks like you've got a very good fan club to come home to. Get well soon Em, love Pete, Steph, Becca and Ellie, X.”

Emily is receiving treatment at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge following the accident in Dog Lane in Bedfield, just north of Framlingham, at about 5pm on Sunday.

She was a passenger in a silver Subaru, the only car involved in the crash, which was being driven by a 26-year-old man from the Framlingham area.

The driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving and driving without insurance. He was released on police bail and is required to return to Ipswich police station on March 6 as part of the ongoing investigation into the crash.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the Subaru travelling from Framlingham to Bedfield prior to the accident.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Pc Roy Dade at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01473 613500.
