Investigations at Gorleston beach where Suffolk girl Ava-May Littleboy died expected to conclude today

Investigations have been carried out at Gorleston beach following the death of three-year-old Ava-May Littleboy, from Somersham, on Sunday.

The investigation is being coordinated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and police, with the borough council expected to send an environmental health officer to the scene to advise.

A Just Giving webpage has now been set up for Ava-May, who died from her injuries at James Paget Hospital, by Abbie Littleboy.

The page description said: “On 1st July 2018, 3 year old Ava-May Littleboy tragically lost her life after a bouncy castle exploded on Gorleston beach.

“Her family would like to kindly ask for donations to help fund a child’s bench in memory of Ava that will be put in her local park of Somersham, Suffolk.”

The page was looking to raise £1,500, but has already raised far more.

Family members have paid tribute to Ava-May yesterday.

“She was not your ordinary little girl, as anyone she met, she would leave a lasting impression on,” the family said.

“Anyone that met her would not want to forget her. Her infectious laugh and smile could light up even the darkest of rooms.”

Supt Roger Wiltshire from Norfolk Police said: “My understanding is that the mother had a conversation with the stall holder and the child went on the equipment.

“The trampoline was designed just for one person to use and she was the only person there at the time. As far as I understand her mother was watching nearby,

“I am a dad myself and I cannot imagine what the family are going through.

“You go to a place like Gorleston for a day out and then this happens.”

He added that investigations at the site were expected to conclude today.
