Great Clacton Church of England Junior School in Essex has had to make an emergency closure today because of high numbers of sickness, Essex County Council has reported.
According to the council’s emergency closure page, the school in Craigfield Avenue has closed due to “high volume of pupil/staff absence with a sickness and diarrhoea.”
A deep clean of the school is set to take place to prevent any bugs from spreading.
It is not yet clear how many people have been absent because of the bug, or how long the closure may be in place for, but it is understood that the school is hoping to be back to normal by Wednesday.
A spokesman from the school declined to comment.
