The Great Get Together, which has been inspired by former Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox, is taking place at Northgate High School, in Ipswich, tomorrow.

The community day involves pupils, students and staff, friends from the local community groups and organisations and is being held as an opportunity to honour Mrs Cox’s spirit and her desire to unite people.

It is being held in the arts centre’s main hall and social area from 2.15pm to 4.15pm and there will be a variety of stalls displaying work done by pupils as well as material and resources from community groups and organisations.

There will also be presentations from pupils and guest speakers and refreshments will also be available and the event will be a chance to share and celebrate what unites people.

Mrs Cox, a mother-of-two and who was a staunch European and defender of immigration, was shot and stabbed on June 16, 2016, outside her constituency surgery in Birstall, near Leeds, a week before the EU referendum.
