A member of staff at an Essex pub was assaulted and forced to hand over the key to the venue’s safe during an early-morning robbery.
A 39-year-old staff member of the Rose and Crown pub in Nayland Road, Great Horkesley, was cashing up when two men entered a storeroom and assaulted him, which resulted in him sustaining cuts and bruises.
A four-figure sum of cash was taken after he was forced to hand over keys to a safe.
Detectives investigating the incident want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity near the pub in the early hours, or anyone who saw people leaving the car park in a hurry.
