Farm machinery enthusiasts took a trip down memory lane during a weekend of displays and demonstrations at Great Waldingfield Airfield.

Now in its 13th year, the Monks Eleigh Bygone Collectors Club’s (MEBCC) annual rally attracted hundreds of visitors, keen to browse the array of vintage tractors, steam engines, cars and motorbikes on show. All money raised from the event will go to Bury based Suffolk Diabetes Interest Group and the local branch of Age UK.

MEBCC chairman and founder Paul Goodchild said: “This year, we had a brand new £70,000 tractor and trailer on show alongside one from the 1960s that would have cost around £3,000 just to show how things have changed. We had the highest ever number of exhibits this year and the weather was perfect. As usual, we would really like to thank Chilton Grain for continuing to allow us to use the airfield.”

The club is preparing for its next charity event – a vintage tractor ploughing day in Valley Road, Great Waldingfield, on August 24.
