Greater Anglia passengers could face rush-hour delays this evening as overheard wire problems continue to affect the main rail line.
First reported by the rail provider at about 7.20am, Greater Anglia were investigating overhead wire problems between Colchester and Manningtree.
The investigation was expected to continue until midday, but is now due to disrupt travel until 8pm.
Network Rail engineers are working to fix the damage to the wires.
While the investigation is underway, all travel through Colchester is suspended.
More than 30 services have been cancelled today and another 30 have been disrupted.
Rail passengers can use their train tickets to travel on First Buses between Colchester and Colchester Town stations.
Another service will run between Ipswich and Colchester.
A statement on the Greater Anglia website said: "Due to damage to the overhead electric wires in the Colchester area, services will be disrupted.
"Network Rail engineers are on site at the location and will repair the overhead wires.
"A limited rail replacement bus service will be in operation between Colchester and Manningtree
"There will be an hourly service from Norwich to Ipswich. Then bus Ipswich to Colchester.
"Greater Anglia tickets will be accepted on local buses between Colchester Town and Colchester (First Buses)."
Greater Anglia and Network Rail both apologised for the disruption and advised those delayed by more than 15 minutes to check their Delay Repay 15 scheme for compensation information.
