London-bound rail commuters in the region have been dealt a second blow this morning after a points failure led to delays on top of earlier troubles caused by signalling issues.

Greater Anglia said services were having to run at reduced speed due to a points failure between Stratford and Forest Gate on the Great Eastern Mainline this morning.

“Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 15 minutes,” a spokesman added.

“Disruption is expected until 11am.”

Services from Ipswich, Norwich, Clacton-on-Sea, Braintree, Colchester and Colchester Town towards London Liverpool Street have been affected.

“Trains are having to run at a reduced speed which is also causing congestion in the area and delaying services further,” a spokesman added.

The failure follows earlier signalling problems on the line at Ingatestone.

The signalling issues were reported to have been resolved by 8am.
