A group of 17 Girl Guides in Long Melford are learning the ancient art of bell ringing.

They are halfway through a specially devised six week course at the local Holy Trinity Church, which could earn them a ‘hobbies’ badge.

Guide leader Trudie Wright said they were thoroughly enjoying learning the skills of campanology.

She added: “Tower captain Linda Goodban has been absolutely fantastic and we hope that a few of the girls might get hooked on it and eventually take it up as a hobby.”
