Guilty plea after woman stabbed in stomach

A 39-year-old man has admitted wounding with intent after a woman was stabbed in the stomach.

Sadek Chowdhury of no fixed abode, denied attempting to murder a 47-year-old woman in an incident in Cambridge Road, Lowestoft on November 20 last year.

Police were called to the address at 1.20am on the night in question to find the woman with stab wounds to her stomach.

The victim was taken to the James Paget University Hospital at Gorleston where she underwent surgery but her injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

At Ipswich Crown Court yesterday, Chowdhury admitted the lesser charge and will be sentenced next month.
