A talk on a Suffolk town’s ‘Great War Centenary Project’ will be held as the latest in a series of events in aid of a new community kitchen.

Mark Brennan, chairman of the Hadleigh British Legion, will be talking on Saturday morning about the work undertaken with a Lottery grant to commemorate those from the town who died during the First World War.

The project includes a children’s visit to war graves in France a “shower or poppies” from Hadleigh church tower and a display on the railings in High Street.

The event is part of a series of talks organised by Hadleigh town councillors to raise money for a new kitchen in the Guildhall complex. Previous topics of discussion have included ‘Hadleigh, an Ancient Market Town’, ‘International Women’s Day’ and ‘Hadleigh in the 60s’.

Saturday’s talk will take place from 10.30am in the Guildhall. Further talks are scheduled to take place until the end of the year.
