A Suffolk mayor has marked the start of construction of a new retirement living complex in his town.
Hadleigh mayor Peter Matthews was the guest of honour and McCarthy and Stone’s ground-breaking ceremony at the development site in High Street.
Manor Gardens will feature 29 chalets and cottages for the over 55s, while neighbouring Tyefield Place will feature 35 “retirement living” apartments for over 60s, including a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points.
Mr Matthews said it was a “pleasure” to visit.
“Developments such as these are a great asset to the town as they provide the perfect solution for people who are looking to live their retirement years to the full in a thoughtfully-designed, low maintenance property,” he added.
Cheryl Bissett at McCarthy and Stone said the properties will increase the choice of high quality “for the discerning over 55s.”
