The 179th Hadleigh Show takes place in Holbecks Park on Saturday - the day Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to marry – and aims to create a “street party feel” to celebrate.

There will also be First World War commemorations, with a theme of “nostalgia and memories” in the flower tent and poppies and doves produced by children to hang from trees.

Organised by the Hadleigh Farmers’ Agricultural Association, this year’s show is directed by George Apter, who has been stewarding at the event for 12 years. He visited his first show aged nine months when his father, Jeremy was the show director.

The main attraction this year is Broke FMX, which features some of the UK’s top freestyle motocross riders, who are “always eager to show off their tricks”.

The team is fronted by John Pearson who also provides commentary while performing tricks 35-feet in the air. After displays, visitors are invited to meet the riders, have photos taken with riders and motorbikes.

Organisers also said they were “delighted” to welcome Titan the Robot for the first time – an eight foot talking robot, who will be touring the showground.

“Titan’s cheeky character is adored by both adults and children alike,” a spokesman said.

Other ringside entertainment includes The Sheep Show, Little Nippers Terrier Racing and Vintage Tractors. The Young Farmers will be testing their strength during the Tug-o-War, while people can try their skills with the Tudor Archers or the Gun Dog Scurry.

The show’s education team is focussing on cows this year and encouraging visitors to try their hand at milking.

Local schools have also been celebrating the Suffolk countryside in art.

The popular cooker demonstrations returns, with Mark David of The Cooking Experience at the helm.

Livestock continues to play an important part in the show, with more than 150 classes of cattle, sheep, goats and horses on show.

Advance tickets can be purchased on-line at www.hadleighshow.co.uk as well as shops in the town.
