A 50-year-old man has been served a summons to appear before magistrates in Norwich in connection with a fatal crash in Bungay last year.

Police were sent to Bridge Street in the town at around 1.40am on May 13, 2016 to reports of a serious collision.

Pedestrian Shane Lay, who was 42, was involved in a crash with a Nissan Qashqai which is alleged to have failed to stop at the scene.

Mr Lay was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment, but he died from his injuries the following day.

The 50-year-old man – who is from Halesworth – was previously arrested by police in Suffolk following the crash.

He was bailed to allow further enquiries to take place but has now been issued with a summons to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court next month.

The man will face a charge of death by dangerous driving there on September 28.
