DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a burglary in Halstead.

The break-in happened when thieves entered through the front door of a house on Mill Green between midday Tuesday, October 23 and 1.30pm Friday, October 26 and stole an array of items, including alcohol, jewellery, electrical equipment and personal documents worth a four-figure sum of cash.

Investigating Officer, Dc Victoria Butler, said: “Much of the jewellery was of sentimental value to the owner, especially a men’s platinum wedding ring with a date of 9/7/2010 engraved on it.

“We’re releasing an image of one of the necklaces that was stolen in the hope that it may jog someone’s memory if they have seen it and the other stolen jewellery items on sale.

“The homeowners had gone away for a short break and returned to see their house a scene of devastation. We’re looking to speak with anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Mill Green or Mill Chase area during this penultimate week of October, especially during the evening of Wednesday, October 24 and the early hours of Thursday, October 25. Lights were seen being on in the household during this time.”

A forensic examination of the scene was conducted as were house-to-house enquiries.

Anyone with information in connection with this burglary is urged to contact detectives at Chelmsford police station on 101
