MILDENHALL Fen Tigers started of the weekend in blistering fashion winning at arch rivals Kings Lynn claiming all four league points with a 39-53 win at Saddlebow Road to avenge their home defeat of last week however on Sunday they suffered a heavier than expected reverse at Buxton going down 58-37 in deepest Derbyshire.

In Norfolk though The Art And Stitch Fen Tigers rode well as a unit despite losing Matt Bates after a heat 3 collision which also ruled out Lynn’s Adam Lowe after Bates had picked up drive coming out of turn two and collected Lowe.

Bates sustained concussion and a knee injury while Lowe had tissue damage, the stars of the show for Mildenhall were Jerran Hart, Barrie Evans and the impressive Joe Jacobs who scored paid 15 from his 7 outings.

At a bitterly cold Buxton and operating R/R for Matt Bates it was a different story however as the Fen Tigers struggled to get to grips with the track and were second best out of the start despite a blistering 17 points from their in form No.1 Hart who was only beaten in heat 15 by the home star Craig Cook in a thrilling race, the pair had two titanic races as before that in race 13 Hart just held on from the charging Cook as the pair crossed the line almost together.

Hart said after the meeting” I was making really good starts the best I have all season infact and it felt really good out there, the heat 13 race was really close and I just nicked it by half a wheel.”

Team Manager John Adams said” It was a great feeling to win at Kings Lynn again and I was pleased for the fans after the defeat at West Row last weekend but the result at Buxton was disappointing and we know we have an uphill battle to pull back the 21 point deficit but all the team think we can do it and that is what we are going for on Sunday.

Jerran is unavailable as he is in Newcastle with Scunthorpe so I have booked Darren Mallett from Kings Lynn who always rides West Row very well.”

The next action at West Row is this coming Sunday with the return leg of the KOC versus Buxton 5pm start.
