HAMMERS' asset and star of the future, Jerran Hart, roared to a spectacular second place in the Christmas Cracker meeting at Scunthorpe.
The Suffolk-born rider got his preparation for 2010 off to the best start possible, riding with strength and determination in a class field against the likes of Coventry's Ben Barker and King's Lynn's Kevin Doolan.
Finishing runner up to Doolan, Jerran was pleased with his day's work. "I came here to win, but to finish second behind a rider of Doolan's class is pretty satisfying nevertheless."
Hammers' boss, Jon Cook, was not surprised by the result. "Jerran is a quality rider moving in the right direction,' said Cook. "He is a great prospect, which is why we signed him with an eye to the future. He will be a crowd favourite for the Hammers fans in the near future.”
