Around 70 children and teachers at Hartest Primary School took part in the event around the school grounds with money raised through sponsorship going to Cancer Research.

Matthew Coombs, headteacher, said the event was a resounding success.

“It was brilliant,” he said. “Considering we are a really small school, the amount of fundraising and charity work that the children do is excellent.

“The children all participated really well and it was great to see.

“The charity is particularly close to our hearts as we lost a long-standing member of staff last year and it was really moving to see the names the children had on their shirts.

“For us it’s less about the money and more about letting the children know that cancer is not a taboo subject.”
