DETECTIVES were questioning a man last night following the discovery of around 500 cannabis plants at an address in Harwich.
Police executed a search warrant at a house on Ashley Road shortly after 4pm on Saturday and discovered the plants.
Neighbourhood policing Sergeant Simon Tattersall said: “Police raids like this one are often carried out following information supplied to us by residents.
“We are in the business of enhancing the quality of life for people living in all parts of Essex and we can easily and readily do this if we are tipped off about suspicious or known illegal activity.”
He said the Ashley Road discovery was one of the “most sophisticated and professional” they had seen in the area.
“The whole house, and not just one room, was kitted out with the sole purpose of growing drugs,” he said.
A 27-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and is being questioned by detectives at Braintree police station.
