Police are hunting a suspect who broke in to a car and damaged “several” other vehicles when driving off before fleeing the scene in north-east Essex.

The incident initially took place in Arderne Close, Harwich, when a Peugeot car was reported stolen to Essex Police at 2am on Tuesday.

The force then received reports of “several” cars being struck by the stolen vehicle in nearby Abbott Road, causing wing mirrors to be knocked off and scratches and dents.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a house in Arderne Close, Harwich, where a car was stolen that was then involved in several minor collisions with cars in Abbott Road, before the driver abandoned the car and ran off.”

Witnesses or people with information relating to this incident are urged to call police on 101.
