One person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries following a crash on the A12 at Hatfield Peverel in Essex this morning.

It happened at about 10.30am on the northbound carriageway and involved a Ford Transit panel van, a Subaru Legacy and a Ford Mondeo.

One fire crew from Witham and two from Chelmsford attended the scene where they used specialist cutting equipment to free a woman who was trapped.

A spokesman for Essex Police said one person suffered a minor injury and was taken to hospital.

The road was only closed for about 10 minutes while the debris was cleared.
