A PARISH council is now the owner of a 20-acre wood and picnic area after a ceremony was held to mark the event.
Haughley Parish Council was handed control of Gallowsfield Wood, which was transferred as part of a Suffolk County Council programme, yesterday.
Alan Shaw, chairman of the parish council said: “Sites like this matter. This is a 20-acre patch of wooded peace, nature and tranquillity that in half a century or so will be truly stunning.”
The wood lies in the parish of Harleston near the A14.
