A have-a-go hero tackled a burglar who had broken into his home.

Two men entered a house in Harwich Road, Ardleigh, while the victim had popped out between 9.45-10.15pm on Friday.

When the man, in his 40s, returned home and tackled one of the suspects.

It is thought he injured the burglar causing swelling to his face and a bloodied nose.

Both suspects were black and aged 25-30. One was 5ft 11ins tall and of skinny build, the other 5ft 6ins and of stocky build.

The victim suffered a cut hand and some bruised ribs.

The suspects fled the property empty-handed.
