People are advised not to approach a prisoner who has absconded from an open prison in Suffolk.

Mark Heanan, 30, was reported missing to police after he was absent from a roll call at Hollesley Bay at 5pm today (August 1).

He is serving an indeterminate sentence for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said in a statement: “Heanan is described as white, 6ft tall, of medium build, with brown hair and a tattoo on the left side of his neck. He was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt, khaki shorts and black flip flops.

“He has links to Kent and Surrey. Members of the public are advised not to approach him.

“Anyone who believes they may have seen Mark Heanan, or who has any information regarding his whereabouts, is asked to contact Suffolk police on 101.”
