A woman has been cautioned with wasting police time after she reported a sexual assault in Haverhill.
The woman, who is 20-years-old and from Haverhill, contacted police on Wednesday August 7 to report that she had been attacked in an alleyway near to Horsham Close at around 6:05pm the previous evening.
Following a thorough investigation by police the woman admitted to officers that the allegations were fabricated. As a result, she has received a formal caution.
Suffolk Police have said they would like to reassure people that all reports of a sexual offence are taken very seriously and are fully investigated.
