A 74-YEAR-OLD woman managed to scare off two burglars after she pulled her emergency alarm.
They fled with the victim’s purse which contained a small amount of cash and now police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place at around 9.30pm, yesterday (Friday) in Mill Road, Haverhill.
The woman was disturbed by two men in her bedroom and one of them grabbed her by her arm and demanded to know where she kept her money. The second man then searched her bedroom.
However, she managed to pull her emergency cord to get help.
It is thought that the two men made off the same way they entered the property, through an insecure window.
The victim was left shaken by the ordeal and police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw two men acting suspiciously.
The first man is described as white, around 6ft tall and he wore dark clothing. The second man was white, shorter at around 5ft 8in tall and of stocky build. He wore a flat cap and also dark clothing.
Anyone who was in the area and noticed any suspicious activity or recognise the men are asked to call DC Mike Blayney at Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
