MOTORISTS faced six-mile tailbacks today after a three-vehicle crash on the A14 which left one car on its roof.

The accident happened on the Ipswich-bound carriageway between Sproughton and Copdock shortly before 8am and involved two cars and a lorry.

Rush hour drivers had to contend with delays stretching back as far as Claydon as the emergency services dealt with the crash scene and worked to clear the wreckage.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said paramedics had been sent to the scene, although the extent of any injuries sustained was initially unclear.

However, a police spokeswoman said it was believed nobody had been seriously injured.

Traffic began to flow freely shortly after 9am.
