MORE than £16,000 has been raised in memory of a six-year-old who died from a rare brain condition.
Louis Butcher from Thurston, who had a condition called The Vein of Galen Malformation, lost his fight for life at the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), Milton, in May last year.
Louis’ sister Lauren Godfrey, who works at the Thurston Fox & Hounds, along with the landlady Mandy Ruffles, decided to embark on a challenge to raise money for ‘The Wishes for Louis Fund’ and they have donated £12,500 to the Milton Hospice.
Funds will offset the costs of the new playground at the hospice and Lauren, Mandy, and her husband Bernie Ruffles visited the hospice along with Louis’ twin sister, Megan, to hand over the funds.
Louis’ 16-year-old brother, Jack, was also instrumental in helping with the fundraising events.
More than £10,000 was raised at a music event at the pub in September and a family fundraising day was also held in the village in the summer.
