High winds close Port of Felixstowe and operation stack brought into effect

Operation stack has been brought into effect today after high winds caused the Port of Felixstowe to close to container traffic.

The decision was taken at 4pm and will remain in force until further notice.

Container lorries will now be held on the old A45 at Levington until the port is able to accept them when the winds have died down.
