A WOMAN claims she was indecently assaulted today after hitchhiking a lift on the A14.

The woman from Stowmarket hitched a lift with a man in a small black car after thumbing him down on the east bound carriageway of the A14 just after 4pm.

She claims she was then taken to Pound Lane in Great Blakenham and indecently assaulted, before managing to escape and getting help from a nearby house.

The man is described as being white, in his thirties, of large build and with a shaven head. He was wearing sun glasses, a white short sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

Police, who are advising against hitchhiking, are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen a lone female on the A14 between Stowmarket and Claydon or may have seen the black car parked in Pound Lane around 6pm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Sgt Pani Monk at Stowmarket CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
