AN INQUEST into a mechanic who was crushed by a vehicle he was working on has been opened and adjourned.

Kevin Alderton, 34, of Redlingfield Road, Horham, died on February 8 at a business premises in Upgate Road, Seething, Norfolk.

An initial hearing heard how Mr Alderton had become trapped between the rear wheel and the chassis of the agricultural vehicle.

A post mortem revealed he died from asphyxiation as a result of compression of the chest. The inquest was adjourned pending the outcome of a police investigation but the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
