Early risers in Bury St Edmunds got a shock this morning when a runaway horse was seen in the town centre.
Police were called at 4.40am to reports of a horse on the loose, which made its way onto Angel Hill and Raingate Street.
The horse then entered a field just off Sicklesmere Road around 6.15am and a vet was called as there was concern for the animal’s welfare.
It is not clear where the horse escaped from.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said the owner of the horse has been traced.
