ENGLAND crashed out of the World Cup this afternoon after a dismal display against rivals Germany.
Despite controversy surrounding a disallowed goal scored by Frank Lampard, the team’s performance during an insipid 4-1 defeat fell far short of what was required and Fabio Capello’s men are heading home.
The team failed to deliver throughout the campaign, scoring only three goals and winning just one match, against Slovenia.
Wayne Rooney again seemed well bellow par while the defence was shambolic, with Germany’s young stars exploiting huge gaps as England pushed forward.
Fans were left heartbroken across the region and many pubs that had been packed at kick-off were almost empty by the final whistle.
