A SOLDIER injured in a suicide attack which killed three of his colleagues has said that his thoughts are with the grieving families and his comrades still fighting.

Sapper Martin Little was injured in the attack by a lone insurgent as his foot patrol returned to base in the Upper Sangin Valley of southern Afganistan on Sunday.

Colchester-based soldiers Private Nathan Cuthbertson, 19, Private Daniel Gamble, 22 and Private Charles Murray, 19 were all killed in the blast.

Sapper Little 21, is being treated in hospital and is expected to make a good recovery.

In an MOD statement just released, he said: “I am very grateful for the support both I and my family have had since returning to the UK.

“My thoughts are now very much with the families of the members of the patrol who died, and also with the families of all the others who have died in Afghanistan.

“My thoughts are also with my mates who are still out there.”
