A WINDSURFER was rescued from the River Blackwater in Essex this afternoon, after suffering a knee injury and minor hypothermia.
West Mersea life boat, Bradwell coast guard and the Essex air ambulance were tasked to help in the rescue attempt after a yacht called in at about 3.50pm reporting they had recovered the windsurfer from the river.
Due to the remote location the air ambulance were called, meeting the casualty off the life boat at the Marconi Sailing Centre, where the windsurfer was treated for mild hypothermia and swelling to his knee.
