OFFICERS in Ipswich have arrested their 100th suspect in a drive to crack down on robberies and burglaries.
Between January 1 and May 11, the Priority Crime Team (PCT) have been concentrating on bringing offenders to justice and reducing levels of offending in Ipswich.
A robbery squad was launched in November 2011 in response to concerns to take prompt action in the case of burglaries and robberies.
Detective Inspector Bernie Morgan leads the PCT. He said: “Criminals were warned of the consequences of their actions – if they engage in this sort of behaviour they will be arrested, charged and the likelihood is that they will go to prison.
“This figure represents a concentrated focussed approach to two of our main priorities.
“Robbery and burglary still remain a focus for Suffolk Police and we will continue to devote resources to reducing these crimes in Ipswich.”
