A man has been arrested following the evacuation of the Town Hall customer service centre.
Suffolk police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested in the town at 2.50pm yesterday on suspicion of communicating false information in relation to a bomb hoax.
The arrest follows the discovery of a suspect packages that led to a mass evacuation of the Town Hall, market square and surrounding buildings from 2.30pm on Tuesday.
The man has been bailed to return to Bury St Edmunds police station at 2pm Tuesday, December 7 pending further enquiries.
