Ipswich: Body of woman recovered from river after person jumps from Orwell Bridge

A body was recovered from the River Orwell after a member of the public reported seeing somebody jump from the Orwell Bridge yesterday.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “Just after 1pm police received a call from a member of the public reporting that they had just seen somebody jump off the Orwell Bridge.

“Moments later police were contacted by the ambulance service who had received a similar call.

“Officers attended to check both the bridge and underneath it, and the coastguard were also alerted.

“At 1.20pm police found the body of a female. Officers are currently working to identify her and trace next of kin.”
