Ipswich: Charity helping sex abuse survivors is on hunt for new trustees
IPSWICH: New trustees are needed to help a charity providing support to people affected by childhood sexual abuse, as they expand.
Survivors in Transition (SiT) has seen demand for their services soar since revelations about disgraced TV and radio presenter Jimmy Savile hit the headlines.
The charity runs a drop-in centre for women and men offering advice, support and various therapies, as well as signposting to other services.
They are currently in the process of finding new premises and today are urging anyone who is interested in becoming a trustee to get in touch.
One of the founders, Fiona Ellis, told The Star: “Finding the right trustees is vital.
“Because we have grown so quickly, I am looking to restructure the charity so we can attract more funding and permanent staff.
“As we grow, we need a wider range of expertise to help represent our users in the most effective way.

“Recently we have needed a lot of legal advice so someone with a legal background would be invaluable. As would people who can help with financial and funding advice.
“All you need is a passion for what we are doing.”
Ms Ellis said the team are also looking for volunteers to help with funding bids and administration.
