The new traffic lights have finally been switched on at the junction of Civic Drive and Princes Street near the centre of Ipswich.

The lights replace the former roundabout and subways which has been demolished over the last eight months.

There is still work to be completed on the pavements and the pedestrian crossings in the area, but rush-hour drivers were getting to grips with the new junction today.

The work on the junction – part of the £21 million government-funded Travel Ipswich programme – is due to be completed by the end of the month after its initial spring completion date was delayed because of the cold winter weather.
