A fire on St Georges Street was tackled by firefighters.
A flat caught fire at around 9am on Thursday, with crews from Princes Street and Ipswich East sent to attend.
The incident was under control by 9.40am, with crews using breathing apparatus and a hose reel to tackle the blaze.
No one is thought to have been injured.
