Police say they are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of missing 44-year-old Ipswich man, Gavin Francis.

Suffolk police has issued another appeal for information today in the hope that someone will come forward.

Mr Francis was reported missing by his family on Wednesday January 1 after not being seen since around 5:45pm on Tuesday December 31 when he left his home address in Purdis Farm to go for a bike ride.

Yesterday, a bike that is believed to belong to Mr Francis was found by steps near to the Orwell Bridge. Police and the coastguard have made searches of the area and will continue to do so today.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him in the area of the bridge on Tuesday evening.

Mr Francis is described as white, 6ft tall, of average build, with dark brown receding hair, blue eyes and is clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a navy blue lycra cycling top with a white stripe down the side and navy blue lycra cycling shorts.

Other lines of enquiry continue as officers try and trace Gavin and anyone who may have information that may help is asked to call Ipswich Police on 101.
