POLICE are appealing for help in tracing two heroes who rescued a man from an icy Suffolk river.

Officers were alerted to reports that the victim had fallen into the River Orwell, near Stoke Bridge in Ipswich, just before 9pm last night.

By the time they attended the scene, near the skate park, the man had been pulled out by two young men.

The men were spoken to briefly by a PCSO, but then left before their details were obtained. The rescued man declined to give police his details.

Police are keen to find these two men to thank them for their actions.

They are described as Asian, aged approximately 17 to 18 years old and of slim build.

Calls in relation to this incident should be made to Pc Andrew Overton at the Ipswich Neighbourhood Response Team on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
