Saxophonist and educator Martin Hathaway, professor of jazz studies at the Guildhall School in London, is to give an illustrated talk on the genre’s history later this month.

The event will be held on Sunday, June 24 and will form part of the Ipswich Jazz Festival, which runs from June 22-24.

Mr Hathaway is an active member of the current jazz scene, and has performed with many of the country’s leading musicians including Mike Westbrook, Michael Garrick, Stacey Kent and several Dankworths.

His illustrated lecture will provide a whistle-stop tour of British jazz since the Second World War. The History of British Jazz talk will take place at 3pm at the Ipswich Institute Reading Room, 15 Tavern Street, Ipswich.
