With a helping hand from her mother Cathy Ho, five-year-old Siyan Chan pegged her way to raise £134 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Siyan, who lives in Limetree Drive, Ipswich, had been learning about fundraising and charity and decided she wanted to do something to make a difference.

Miss Ho, who runs her own business Nextway Style, said: “I felt it was important to teach Siyan about the work of local charities and fundraising and she wanted to do something.

“We drive past The Treehouse every day and she asked me about it and what they do there for poorly children.

“I suggested EACH to her and she was very enthusiastic about it.”

Siyan, who goes to Broke Hall Primary School, decorated more than 200 mini craft pegs with stars, ladybirds and butterflies.

The mini pegs were sold to her family and friends to raise a total of £134 for the hospice.

Miss Ho and Siyan paid a visit to The Treehouse to present the charity with a giant cheque.

Vanessa Bell, EACH Suffolk fundraiser, said: “Siyan made a fantastic effort to raise funds for her local children’s hospice and she is an absolute star.

“It is really great to see someone so young get involved in raising money for charity.”
