POLICE are advising residents to be vigilant after a man claiming to be from Anglia Water tried to enter a house in Cecil Road today.
At around 10.20am a man approached the house, asking the owner if he could come in and check the meter.
The owner said she did not have a meter but the man told her that she does have one and needed to come in and see it. The owner did not allow him in and he left the area.
He is described as white, around 5ft 6ins, of average build, in his late thirties and with a ginger beard. He was wearing a hooded top and a high-vis jacket.
Police have since contacted Anglia Water who said they have not had any representatives in the area today.
Officers are advising people to remain vigilant and asking for anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact police in Ipswich on 101.
