POLICE are advising people to lock up their jewellery following a spate of high value Asian gold thefts.
More than £80,000 worth of jewellery has been stolen from homes in Suffolk in the past few months, with ten reported thefts in Ipswich and two in Martlesham.
Police have released a list of measures to help prevent the theft of valuables, particularly Asian gold, which is typically of 22ct or 24ct and of rising value.
Owners are urged to keep valuables out of sight, preferably in a safety deposit box in a bank, or have a European standard safe installed.
For further information or to help police with their investigations, contact your local crime reduction officer on 101.
