A DISTINGUISHED organist who ran a well-known music business in the town is to appear in court next month on charges alleged to involve nearly 6,000 child porn images.

David Templing, of Manor Road, Martlesham, was in charge of Haven Keyboards, which traded for many years near St Augustine’s roundabout at the junction of Felixstowe Road and Bucklesham Road. The 54-year-old is accused of nine counts of making indecent photograph/pseudo photograph of a child.

He is also charged with one count of voyeurism – recording a private act.

Suffolk Constabulary has confirmed the nine indecent photograph charges allegedly involve more than 5,800 images.

These accusations relate to the period between April 4, 2005 and October 1, 2011.

The voyeurism charge is said to have occurred sometime between May 1, 2004 and December 31, 2010.

Templing was arrested on October 14 last year, before being bailed pending further enquiries.

He was charged on Friday.

Templing is currently on police bail until his first appearance on the charges before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court in Ipswich on August 8.

He became a director of Haven Keyboards, which sold and rented musical instruments, in November 2000.

The shop specialised in organ music, but is now closed.
